Coupon warrant books, July 1, 1861-February 24, 1928.

These records give the date, warrant number, to whom due, date due, on what type of bond (under what act), amount of warrant, and receipt of warrant. The first volume records the payment of interest on Virginia's coupon debt payable in New York City until an ordinance passed by the state convention on June 26, 1861, made the interest payable in Richmond. The period covered is July 1, 1861-December 2, 1864; July 9, 1866-March 30, 1871; July 1, 1915-February 24, 1928.

An act of the General Assembly approved March 23, 1839, provided for additional capital for the James River and Kanawha Company.
